I was definitely born in the wrong decade...

Okay, I wasn't born in the wrong decade, but I was definitely born at the absolute worst time of the 80's.  That would be in the third to last month of the 80's.  How depressing.  The 80's produced the best music of all time (such as "I just can't get enough" by Depeche Mode) and I completely missed it.  It would be fanfriggintasic if they still played the 80's on the radio.  But I guess I just have to wait a couple decades and just listen to Oldies 103.3... does that even still exist?

So lately in classes we have been talking about how young people, teens, etc. are addicted to the computer.  I mean, they are the computer-aged generation but are we really addicted? I started thinking about it when my teacher said it as I checked my facebook... I think my computer has become grafted from my wrists.  I don't think that's a good thing either.  I feel like when I introduce myself to people now I am saying: "Hi, my name is Elisabeth and my problem is that I can't shut my computer off." and they chant back "Hi, Elisabeth."  They should really have a... hmm... CARP... Computer Addicts Recovery Program.  I'm pretty sure every college student would enroll.  Melanie's computer, for instance, broke two weeks ago.   She didn't have a computer for roughly five days.  FIVE DAYS!  And yet she seemed to always be anxiously rocking back in forth in the fetal position in the corner of our living room.

We should really get out more...

The fact that kids my age use more texts than minutes on average on our cell phone bills really says something.  We are afraid of face-to-face or even just voice-to-voice contact.  Like this kid in my Communications class group called me to discuss something for our project.... most awkward conversation EVER.  I wish he would have just texted me.  That would have -34% awkwardness attached instead of 74%.  Maybe it's just my problem. Maybe I'm the only one that thinks actual human interaction is odd but judging by the fact that walking across campus 90% of the people I pass are either texting, on the phone or listening to their ipod... I don't think I'm that different.  General Authorities have told us to unplug our headphones and keep our phones in our pockets and SMILE.  Then maybe we might make legit friends. I'll work on that this week...

I'm going to work on a potato farm in April!! At least I think I will.  I am really excited!! The Second Counselor in my ward told me I could come help him during the break if I'm not going anywhere.  I think it'll be way fun, I will be... umm... splitting, potato...seeds?  I'm not quite sure, and I'll probably fail miserably at it but I'll give it a shot.  He said it would be pretty hard to mess up.

Well, it's my night to make dinner! I am going to make pork chops with a homemade applesauce topping thing.  Sound good, hey?

Spring Fever!!

Well first off the fact that it is 38 degrees but feels like at least 50 makes Idaho not so bad!  It's basically shorts weather!

Anyways... I thought I would post some highlights of this semester so you guys all know what happened!

This is the day that we dressed up all crazy 80's and went around campus and filmed a music video to Pat Benetar's "Love is a Battlefield".  We got a lot of looks that day but we had fun doing it!  Later, we went to Applebee's and ran into the Second Counselor of our ward and his wife.  He still makes fun of us every Sunday. The one in the front is Bryanna and Tycy is in the purple.  They were friends in high school in Canada.  We hang out with them everyday.

This is our friend Chris.  She's from Brazil and is Tycy and Bryanna's roommate.  We had a sleepover at their apartment and got twisty straws and sparkling apple cider.  It exploded everywhere but it was wicked fun.

So this is about 1/4 of the sugar cookies that we made on Valentine's Day.  We counted and we made over 100 sugar cookies and decorated them and brought them to our friends!  We definitely started a tradition!

We went to the Stag dance on Valentine's Day with a few random friends and it turned out to be really fun.  Of course I am the one boycotting all things Valentine's by wearing teal but oh well.  In this picture from left to right starting the back... some guy named Mark (we don't actually know him), some other guy that my FHE brother is friends with, Austin & Eric (they are really fun!), some other guy my FHE brother is friends with, bottom: Andrew (my FHE brother), Chris, Sarah (from New Jersey, I'm driving home with her), me, Tycy & Stefan who are now dating (Stefan is also my FHE brother) and then Melanie.

This is the chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting that I made.  I'm sorry if it looks nasty in the pictures but it is definitely the best cake EVER.

That's about all the pictures I have for this semester!  We kind of layed low on the picture taking!  But I've been having LOADS of fun.  I'll post some more pictures later!  I think I should probably start my homework, or get out of pajamas....

Holy Smokes, am I really doing this?

I once had a blog in 7th grade.  I posted emo tactics and thoughts about how depressing my life was because I was 13.  I'm pretty sure everyone else did, too.  I think it was called something like... I don't know... a dark shadow.  Sound like me, eh? ;)

I think sitting in a library makes you incredibly bored and warps your brain into thinking that creating a blog, and promising yourself to update, probably isn't what I should do on a Friday afternoon.

Slash I just don't want to go outside in the chilling wind to walk to the testing center.  That testing center really does something to the students that have to go there, I swear.  I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the Capitol Hill amount of stairs you have to climb to enter the dreary, plain and almost stale feeling room.  You would think they would try to make it the most comfortable and stress-free zone on campus but the silence is deadly. Deadly I tell you!

At least I studied for this one.

I gave blood earlier today.  Third time so far this school year! I have saved 9 lives so far (or just one cat)!  I love giving blood, and I love watching them stab needles into people.  It's wicked cool, I think.  And the fact that I have done it enough to know that I am not going to pass out ever makes it even MORE fun.  Only 60 days till they do it again!

Rexburg has been loverly the past few days, spring is in the air! And as President Clark announced... SPRING TRAINING HAS BEGUN!!!!  Oh how I love that dirty water and the Red Sox!  I'm gonna miss spring in Boston while I kick around the dirt of Idaho.  Oh well.  LIfe is full of sacrifices in order to stay at the place I am starting to like more than Boston... dangit, that shouldn't happen!  But I really do love Idaho.  As long as I don't think of it as Idaho ;)

Okay I think I should probably go and take this test.  Bummer.  And then hopefully I won't come home to a disaster of an apartment (yes, mom, I actually like things clean and orderly, my room is spotless!)

peace out girl scouts!
